LCSS is a professional organization of Social Studies educators striving to maintain and enhance the importance of Social Studies in Louisiana education. The Louisiana Council for the Social Studies, along with the National Council for the Social Studies, sponsors annual conferences to promote public awareness of Social Studies education.
